2019 Bevan Cellars "EE Tench Vineyard", Napa Valley, California, USA

ABOUT THIS WINE

The EE Tench red comes from one of Bevan’s signature sites: the Tench Vineyard, which sits adjacent to Screaming Eagle on Oakville’s sun-drenched, red-andesite-laden east side.

Bevan’s deft hand at expressing terroir can be explained, at least partially, by his winemaking practices. He’s obsessed with cleanliness and ages his wines in 100% new French oak because he doesn't want to introduce any unknown elements into the wine. Through his devotion to cellar hygiene, Russell is able to add minimal sulfur and bottle his wines unfiltered.

ABOUT THIS PRODUCER

The philosophy at Bevan Cellars has remained constant since its founding in 2005: the journey is just as important as the outcome. Along their journey, they have learned first-hand that it takes bravery and an open mind to see the underlying potential of a vineyard. If you’re anything like them, you seek to savor something beyond the typical – something truly extraordinary.

The team works with a sustainable approach in both the vineyards and in the cellar. It is through this labor-intensive journey that we are re-inspired each vintage to craft wines that are wonderful to enjoy now or to cellar for years to come.

The goal for each vintage is to seek the thrill of discovery – especially in uncharted territory. That’s why they source grapes from up-and-coming vineyards that are ripe with promise. In this way, they can achieve their signature Bevan style of intense, flavorful wines while also reflecting the origin of the grapes.
